Llegamos a Buzios

From sand streets to streets full of sand and dirt...

We are in Rio de Janeiro and this picture is basically the first thing we see. We rented a car thinking it would be better to have a car to get around town and get to Buzios (instead of taking a 3 hour bus) but for the past 2.5 hours we've been stuck in disgusting traffic.... Bad idea....and worst of all lost...all we need to do is get to this bridge and we keep missing it...either we are retarded or people can't explain directions for shit!!!
We had it so well in Jericoacoara with the quaint sand streets and rustic, wooden homes and store fronts...
The most important thing now is that we avoid fender benders because seeing how everybody drives here, it's as if it were an amusement park and we were in a bumper car ride!
Our idea is to get out of this as quickly as possible and head north to the town of Buzios "the Hamptons" of Brazil.

Here at the airport heading to Rio

We've met up with Alvaro from Chile who is heading back to Chile and has invited us to the salt flats and deserts of Chile when we get to that part of our trip (mid May). Thanks dude!
The way out of Jericoacoara was tough, especially since we had grown so fond of it...but the journey continues.
We arrive in Rio at 5:20 AM and have decided to rent a car and drive to Buzios which is the Hamptons of Brazil. We plan to chill out there till Sunday then return to Rio to do some sight seeing.
I'm pretty sure the internet connections will be great from there...so our plan is to be live from the beaches in Buzios! Later...

Today is Tuesday, Tomorrow is Wednesday, and Thursday follows that...

Interesting how when you are away from a regular routine, a job, or any type of structure for that matter, you begin to mix up days and practically forget what day of the week it is. More often than not we need to actually remind ourselves the day of the week. Fact is that so many of the locals always ask us the time since we are the tourists that carry watches.

Well its been over 2 months since Paula and I Ieft NYC and its been a trip to see how NOT working makes life so much BETTER!! Hahahaha.. .seriously though city life begins to seem so fast paced and hectic and the constant reminder of time and importance of schedules now seems so constraining!

Basically being here in Jericoacoara has had such an impact on our mindset and really put us to think if NYC is a place that we really want to live and set up "shop"...Its been so chilled out here and everybody is always happy and the dilemas here are more like what sport do we play today or should we wait till the sun sets to have dinner or should we wear shoes to walk to the town store or...

The difficult decisions have completely gone surside!

I will never deny that NYC is one of the coolest places to live and enjoy with all the culture, entertainment, people, food, and on and on...but the feeling of tranquility here has been so sureal that we were trying to figure out today what we would do if we moved here and what business we could start up!!! In the end we need to leave Jericoacoara on Wednesday because we already purchased a flight to leave from the nearest city (about 8-10 hours) and fly straight to Rio de Janeiro. We decided to skip the 50 hours in bus rides down to Rio and fly down in comfort... We are not the best backpackers here...but hey that's what credit cards are for right??!!

We will sincerely miss Jericoacoara...but first let me hit the waves once again to keep working on my surfing!! Later

The picture below is the main street:

Happy Easter to all of you

Laying in bed now, recovering from a night and morning of drinking!!! Fact is I think we are still drunk...
Last night was the latest we've been up, basically we danced until about 6:00AM and then had breakfast and finally got to bed by about 7AM. You see this town filled up to capacity for the holiday weekend and every single bar and club was packed with tourists...the cool thing is that everybody drinks on the beach first and then after getting good and drunk migrate into the bars that are basically open to the beach. Since it was a full moon there was more light last night on the beach than anywhere else...plus all the diehard surfers were out catching the 6 foot waves until about 3AM. Unfortunately because of all the drinks and lack of skill I couldn't get out on the waves last night.
In a couple hours, hopefully after the headache goes away...we'll both be out there trying to catch the surf.
We uploaded some pictures that we hadn't updated in a while. There are some pics starting from March 3 until March 20 (click on the photos link and it will take you to the Migente.com page where we uploaded the pics to).
Later.
